San Juan Blanket - White

Only 3 pieces in stock!

Handcrafted by the weavers of San Juan La Laguna in Lake Atitlan Guatemala, this timeless and minimal design will add a cozy touch to your living spaces. Use it as a blanket, a bed spread or a throw on chilly nights.

The women of the Casa Flor Ixcaco Cooperative craft the traditional way the whole way through. From de-seeding the organic cotton grown locally, to hand-spinning the cotton into yarn, to dyeing and weaving. The natural plant-dyeing process for each blanket takes three days to complete, and the textile is then woven on the traditional back-strap loom over five days. Three lienzos (canvases) are then joined with intricate hand embroidery to reach the desired width.

The whole process from start to finish takes approximately 15 days to complete. Due to the handcrafted nature, there may be slight variations.

Your purchase helps preserve millennial craft traditions, provides economic empowerment to artisans, and contributes to social programs for artisan communities. Learn More ⇢
